DESCRIPTION
Spatial Systems Associates has been under contract with Fairfax County continuously since 2002. Under open task order contracts, SSA has been given a variety of assignments to support GIS development in the County.

• SSA was responsible for development of updates to zip code boundaries, voting precincts and school planning districts utilizing current digital orthophotography and other data.
• SSA has been responsible for developing a variety of layers and tools associated with stormwater conveyance for Fairfax County. On this assignment SSA has:
  • Developed and implemented a geodatabase for the the stormwater features
  • Developed and implemented a project management website used to track progress and resolve data issues
  • Identification of source documents from land records depicting stormwater easement locations, downloading raster versions of the records or scanning originals, registration and vectorization of stormwater easement locations throughout the county
  • Development of watershed boundaries based on available lidar and contour data
  • Creation of a stormwater conveyance network layer, including attribution of the network components
  • Development of tools to be used by Fairfax County staff on portable data collection devices in the field to collect location and attribute information on the size and condition of stormwater conveyance structures
• SSA completed an assignment to support development of the county's multimodal transportation data in support of a new Computer Aided Dispatch system that was to go live in 2009. This efforts included roads, bridges, addresses, confirmation of the address ranges of street segments and location of cell towers and major utilities.
• SSA completed a task that involved field location and inspection of Park Trails throughout the County. SSA field crews utilized GPS-enabled portable technology to locate and characterize all park trails and developed a trail map based on the results.
• SSA was assigned a task to assist in the development of the Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) to be used in the new dispatch system.

SSA continues to provide services to Fairfax County as needed and as requested under our open task order based contract.
